Group of gazelles spotted migrating near Sainshand

Dornogobi /MONTSAME/. A group of gazelles has been spotted migrating near Sainshand city of Dornogobi aimag. Specialist of the Environment and Tourism Department of the aimag reported that the group came in search of dry land as there has been a large amount of snowfall in the aimags of Khentii, Dornod, and Sukhbaatar in the eastern region.
The first census conducted for Mongolian gazelles was conducted in the 1970s, with 5 million being counted. However, the gazelle population has decreased to 3 million according to the 2010 census. This is mainly considered to have been due to poaching alongside being overused as an ingredient for meals for the military.
