Trilateral working group in charge of establishment of natural gas pipeline to be set up

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On the sidelines of the 24th World Energy Congress took place on September 9-12 in Abu Dhabi, Energy Minister of Mongolia Ts.Davaasuren met with Russian Minister of Energy A.V.Novak, exchanging opinions on establishing natural gas pipeline that connected Russia and China through the territory of Mongolia.  


Minister Ts.Davaasuren stated his views on putting the issue to build a transit gas pipeline through Mongolian territory, which was discussed during Russian President’s visit to Mongolia into action urgently. Moreover, he proposed to launch study works on building high-voltage power transmission line within a project to establish Asia Super Grid initiated by the President of Mongolia.  


Underlining that President of Russia V.V.Putin obliged chairman of ‘Gazprom’ Company to study an issue on establishing natural gas pipeline through Mongolian territory, Russian Minister of Energy A.V.Novak requested to start works to set up a working group comprised of Ministries of Energy and companies of three countries in the near future.


The Energy Ministries of the two countries also talked over establishing memorandum of cooperation in energy sector and extension of a thermal power plant No 4 in Ulaanbaatar. Ural Turbine Works of the Russian federation will renew two turbo generators of the Thermal Power Plant No 4 state owned stock company and put into operation in 2019-2020.
