Mongolian wrestlers finish Asian Championship with 1 silver and 2 bronze medals
SportsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On the second day of the Xi’an-2019 Asian Wrestling Championship, IM B.Otgonbayar grabbed the bronze medal from the 74 kg weight class.
Despite losing his match against Daniyar Kaisanov of Kazakhstan, as his opponent had qualified for the finals, the U23 Asian wrestling champion, B.Otgonbayar, was given the opportunity for another match.
With a clean victory over his opponent in the match, he was set to face off against the silver medalist of Budapest-2018 World Championship Adam Batirov of Bahrain. However, as the Bahraini athlete did not step onto the mat, B.Otgonbayar has won the bronze medal.
In the men’s 86 kg, IM G.Gankhuyag also won a bronze medal. Though he lost his match against a wrestler of Kyrgyzstan, he was also given the opportunity for another match. He then came out victorious over Takahiro Murayama of Japan by 1:1, and Abdurasul Vahobov of Uzbekistan by 4:0, winning the bronze medal. Thus, the men’s wrestling team of Mongolia finished the championship with 1 silver (U.Batzul) and 2 bronze medals.
