Gobi bear conservation project officially commences

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ A 3-year project on rendering technical assistance for Gobi bear conservation will be implemented in the Great Gobi A Strictly Protected Area of Mongolia from this year in accordance with the agreement established between the government of Mongolia and China on April 18, 2018.
 
In regard with the project implementation, the Chinese side appointed the Research Institute of Forest Ecology, Environment and Protection of Chinese Academy of Forestry as a contractor of the project.

To launch the project, seven researchers from the Research Institute are working in Mongolia from August 13 to September 28 for a field study in the Great Gobi A Strictly Protected Area, located in Tsogt soum of Gobi-Altai aimag.  
 
On August 17, G. Nyamdavaa, head of the Mongolian side to the project and chief of Environment and Natural Resources Management Department of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, met with the Chinese researchers and specialists of the project. The meeting was attended by researchers from the National University of Mongolia, Institute of Biology and Mazaalai Foundation, sharing views on study works to be conducted in scope of the project.
