BenePlus project to be implemented to reduce air pollution

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Environment, Green development and Tourism, N.Tserenbat has reached an agreement on introducing the BenePlus technology solution to reduce the emission of poisonous gases in ger districts of Ulaanbaatar in association with the U.S. “LP Amina” LLC in the light of intensification of the National Program on reduction of air and environment pollution.


BenePlus is the technology of produce fuel from the coal while reducing the sulfur and other pollutants contained in the coal by more than 75 percent. The introduction of this technology is in line with Mongolia’s Sustainable Development goals of creating low-cost and clean energy sources and healthy living conditions, ensuring sustainable urban development, industrialization and innovation.


The cost of the BenePlus briquette may be lower than the raw coal the Ulaanbaatar’s households are using today. The “LP Amina” LLC plans the establishment of the BenePlus technology pilot plant along with its partners in 2018, and currently is developing a site survey and feasibility study. In case of a successful experiment, the pilot plant is expected to be built in 2019.
