Speaker Tadamori Oshima: Younger generation will carry on the good bilateral relationship

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Parliament Speaker M.Enkhbold held official talks with Tadamori Oshima, Speaker of Japanese House of Representatives today, July 18.

At the beginning of the meeting, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan Tadamori Oshima expressed gratitude for the Mongolian Speaker’s invitation, and his delight at visiting Mongolia in the margins of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In return, Speaker of Parliament M.Enkhbold noted that it was the first visit by a Japanese Speaker of House of Representatives to Mongolia. He appreciated Japan’s long-standing assistance to Mongolia. He stressed the importance of legislative cooperation, and said that the Mongolian Government will concentrate on the realization of the medium-term Strategic Partnership program between Mongolia and Japan.

“Works at the new airport in Khushig Valley are almost over. We need to realize similar projects that symbolize the friendship between the two countries’ people more”, he said. Speaker M.Enkhbold also remarked on the importance of supporting each other in the international and regional arena, highlighting the significance of Speaker Oshima’s visit to Mongolia in strengthening bilateral relationship.

For his part, Speaker Tadamori Oshima said that he was accompanied by the three youngest members of the House of Representatives on his visit to Mongolia. “The good relationship between Japan and Mongolia must be eternal as the younger generation carries it on”.

He also touched upon some matters regarding trade and economic cooperation, saying it was important to jointly discuss the existing challenges, and ensure transparency in investment environment. Addressing Speaker M.Enkhbold’s request, Speaker Oshima said that he would instruct the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry to work on the project to build a carbon chemical complex in Mongolia.

Speaker M.Enkhbold also replied to the Japanese Speaker’s request related to the 2025 World Expo, saying the Cabinet will soon issue a decision to support Japan’s initiative to host the expo in Osaka. In respect of Speaker Oshima’s address of regional cooperation, Speaker M.Enkhbold said, “We affirm our support to global efforts directed at ensuring security on the Korean Peninsula. We believe that conflicts can be solved with dialogues which is why Mongolia forwarded the ‘Ulaanbaatar Dialogue’ initiative”.
