Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolia has opened seven new air routes, in the margin of the aviation policy until 2020. The Mongolian aviation system is being introduced to Performance-based navigation (PBN) system through three stages.

With launching the seven new routes, the flight distance for airliners is being cut shorter. The first airliner to take the new route, which was opened this morning at 08.00 am, is German charter B777 flight.

Economically, the new routes will enable saving fuel and time, and environmentally, it will lower carbon dioxide emissions. According to initial estimations, flight length is being shorted by 230 kilometers and 1,656 tons of fuel is being saved each year, while emitting 5,220 tons less carbon dioxide.

The longest airway route for Mongolia is becoming 1,635 kilometers. The aviation officials shared that they are shooting for a possibility to open a route in horizontal line, which will be much longer that the so-far-the longest airway in Mongolia.
