Preliminary Balance of Payments for February 2017

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Current and Capital account balance totaled to USD 56.6 million surplus, which showed an increase of USD 64.5 million compared to the same period of last year.

The change was due to an increase by 33% or USD 22.3 million in goods and services account, and a decrease by 33% or USD 36.4million in primary income account creating deficit of USD 72.4 million.

Financial account had a surplus of USD 208.7 million. In the first 2 months of 2017, Mongolia had a net lending of USD 208.7 million to the rest of the world, whereas in the same period of last year, it totaled to a net borrowing of USD 92.2 million. Thus, the net external financing had decreased by USD 300.9 million.

As of the first 2 months of 2017, overall balance of payments deficit was USD 250.4 million, reported the Bank of Mongolia on March 29.
