UB Governor S.Batbold opens NEA Mayors’ Forum
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, Mr S.Batbold gave the opening address to the 3rd annual Northeast Asian Mayors Forum on August 4. He extended his warm welcome for the guests, who are “visiting Mongolia on the auspicious summertime”.
The Mayor also mentioned the recent hosting of ASEM Summit by Mongolia, which attracted leaders of 53 countries.
“As the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, I am confident that this year’s forum will come up with better solutions that would contribute to the NEA cities’ growths”, he went on.
This year’s forum is special for being a platform of discussion about the common pressing issue in these times of speedy globalization and urbanization, noted S.Batbold.
The latter also pleasantly informed the gathered that the Appeal, issued by the last NEA Mayors Forum of 2015, has been submitted to the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP 21 or CMP 11, held in Paris last December.
As the main focus of the previous two meetings were the healthy, safe and peaceful living environment in the urban areas, the UB City administration has been realizing some necessary measures through reflecting them in the “Clarifications of the General Development Plan of Ulaanbaatar until 2020, and the development perspective until 2030”, he emphasized.
Finally, he said, this forum is of great significance in creating an international and regular platform for designating the solutions for the problems we face in the green development, to expand cooperation, and solidify the general development trends.
