M.Enkhbold becomes Speaker of parliament
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At its very first plenary meeting held Tuesday under chairmanship of Ch.Ulaan, the session of new parliament elected Enkhbold Miyegombo as the Speaker of the State Great Khural.
Nominated by a decision of the Mongolian People’s Party’s Steering Committee, M.Enkhbold became the new Speaker with 86.8% of votes of MPs.
Born July 19, 1964 in Ulaanbaatar, M.Enkhbold graduated from the city’s 1st school in 1982 and the National University of Mongolia (NUM) in 1987, majoring in economics. He secured a master’s degree in economics.
M.Enkhbold served as the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar city between 1999 and 2005, and he was elected twice as a MP in periods of 2004-2008 and 2008-2012. He also worked as the chairman of the Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party (MPRP) between 2005 and 2007, as the Prime Minister between 2006 and 2007, and as the Deputy Premier between 2007 and 2012.
