Only one independent seat in new parliament

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Candidates from Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) has secured ultimate majority or 65 seats in the 2016-2020 parliament of the 7th convocation. The first meeting of parliament session will be chaired by the oldest among them. D.Gantulga from MPP is 29 years old and is the youngest in the new parliament.

This parliament is also particular for having the highest female representation of 13 women members, one of whom is from the Democratic Party (DP) – the former incumbent. The previous parliament had 11 women MPs.

Moreover, national wrestling has its own representation in the country’s legislature. B.Bat-Erdene, D.Sumiyabazar and A.Sukhbat are champions of Mongolian national wrestling, who are adored and respected by the nation.

Winner of most votes (16,329) in this year’s election is J.Bat-Erdene from MPP, who ran for parliament in the 10th constituency which is in Bulgan province. He is followed by Ch.Ulaan (16,133), B.Delgersaikhan (15,606) and Sh.Radnaased (14,439).

The popular country singer S.Javkhlan has claimed the only independent seat in this parliament, with a great number of votes (11,029), dusting his rivals P.Anujin from MPP and former MP D.Arvin from DP.
