EconomyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In the first five months of this year, 7,480.6 thousand tons of freight and 1,052.4 thousand passengers (duplicated counting) were carried by railway transport.
Compared to same period of the previous year, the size of freight by railways increased by 124.5 thousand tons or 1.7%, while the number of passengers decreased by 116.6 thousand or 10.0%.
The revenue from railway transportation in the first 5 months of 2016 reached MNT 154.8 billion which increased by MNT 10.9 billion or 7.5% against the previous year.
In that period, 1,138.3 tons of freight and 220.9 thousand passengers (duplicated counting) were carried by air transport. The size of freight increased by 104.8 tons or 10.1% and the number of passengers--by 6.7 thousand or 3.1% against the previous year.
The revenue from air transport in the first five months of this year reached MNT 85.7 billion which increased by MNT 2.2 billion or 2.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.
