“Decentralization supports good governance”

Ulaanbaatar /MONSTAME/ “Decentralization Policy Support” called project is being implemented in frames of Governance Support and Decentralization Programme, managed by agreement between Mongolian and Swiss governments. It is steered by a working group formed in accordance with an order of the PM of Mongolia and financed by Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development (SDC).

The working group held its second meeting on January 19. The group’s main objective is to consult on the development of draft methodology documents on distribution of responsibilities at a level of local administration, said deputy chairman of Cabinet Secretariat G.Ganbold.

In order to improve governance and decision implementing performance, local administrations need to distribute the responsibilities and authorities in a just and proper manners. To achieve this, a research in responsibilities and functions of local state administrations and a re-distribution of roles and responsibilities should be conducted, said P.Zorigtbaatar, a senior referent at the Cabinet Secretariat.
