Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The cabinet allowed a Minister of Finance B.Bolor and a Minister of Food and Agriculture R.Burmaa to allocate 100 billion MNT funding from the Development Bank of Mongolia for implementation of Makh (Meat) Program.

This year, Mongolia had a capacity of consuming 10 million livestock for food and of exporting 5.6 million livestock or 128.5 thousand tons of meat. However, the market could not utilize the full capacity because of the quarantine regimes, financial inability of domestic industries that have exporting licenses, and a lack of cash to purchase livestock and meat from herders.

The "Makh" program is expected to increase the amount of meat for exports, particularly to open access to Chinese market, to improve standardization capacity. On the other hand, it may result in the reduced number of livestock, which will also decrease the wintering risks, in better commercialization of exceeded reserves, in increased income for livestock herders and in great benefit for meat-exporting companies.
