New York, September 23, 2023 /MONTSAME/. The President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa met with the President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel on August 21, 2023, during the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The two Heads of State concurred that it is significant to advance traditional friendly relations and actively develop bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Mongolia and the Czech Republic.

The President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa expressed his gratitude to Czech President Petr Pavel for his support in launching projects to reintroduce takhi (Przewalski's horses) in Mongolia, noting that the takhi is a symbol of the two countries' relations.

In 1992, the Czech Republic brought the first 16 przewalski's horses from the Prague Zoo to the Hustai National Park in Mongolia. Since then, several reintroduction projects have been successfully implemented.

President Petr Pavel discussed opportunities to expand bilateral relations and cooperation in defense, security, and culture. He warmly invited the President of Mongolia to pay a State Visit to the Czech Republic in 2024 and participate in an exhibition about the great Mongol empire.

Over 12 thousand Mongolians reside in Czechia, and the Agreement on Social Security between Mongolia and the Czech Republic has come into force since March 2023. The Governments of Mongolia and the Czech Republic signed the Agreement on Social Security in Prague on May 20, 2019.

The Agreement allows Mongolian expats in the Czech Republic to receive their old-age pension in the country or have their years of service in the Czech Republic included in the calculation of their pension entitlement after returning to their home country.
