President of the Swiss National Council pays official visit to Mongolia

Khural G.Zandanshatar officially welcomed the President of the National Council
of the Swiss Confederation H.E. Marina Carobbio Guscetti, who is paying an
official visit to Mongolia on June 23-26 at the Sukhbaatar square.
Ms. Marina Carobbio Guscetti
left her signature on the book of honorary guests after paying tribute to the
statue of Chingis Khaan together with the Speaker.
Afterwards, Speaker
G.Zandanshatar and the President of the Swiss National Council held talks.
During the talks, Speaker
G.Zandanshatar reiterated the proposals he made during his last March visit to
Switzerland such as opening Swiss Embassy in Ulaanbaatar, keeping supports for
cooperation between the parliamentary secretariats, learning experience
regarding issues of mutual interest, establishing an inter-parliamentary group
in the Swiss parliament and continuing to receive Swiss development assistance
from 2022, asking for support from the National Council.
Ms. Marina Carobbio Guscetti
noted that the issue of setting up Mongolia-Switzerland parliamentary group at
the National Council has been included in the parliamentary agenda, expressing
her hope that the parliament to be formed in December, 2019 will settle the
issue.
Following the meeting, the
sides held a press briefing about their meeting.
On the same day, Ms. Marina
Carobbio Guscetti paid a courtesy call on President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga and
had a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar.
During her visit, the National
Council President will take part in an international conference of leader women
and get acquainted with the progress of the programs and projects being
implemented by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in Ulaanbaatar
city and Uvs and Khovd aimags.
