DP backs 14/14 version of constituency allocation
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The meeting of the Democratic Party’s (DP) faction held Monday considered to allocate evenly 14 mandates of the majoritarian system constituencies of aimags, and the same number of mandates to Ulaanbaatar city’s constituencies.
“We see this version as the best so far for preserving advantages of the proportional system. Our version is designed in considering the population, territories and administrations,” said B.Garamgaibaatar, head of the DP faction. “Some 10 aimags are expected to have extra mandates, but the political parties will work on the version to be submitted by the General Election Commission in formal way,” he said.
“It is expected that local constituencies having populations of over 80 thousand people will have three mandates, while the constituencies with over 60 thousand people will get two mandates each,” said Sh.Tuvdendorj, deputy head of the DP faction.
