Ulaanbaatar, July 13, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The first State Visit to Mongolia by Their Majesties Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan, at the invitation of President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, has concluded.

President of Mongolia, H.E. Khurelsukh Ukhnaa and First Lady Bolortsetseg Luvsandorj bid farewell to His Majesty Emperor Naruhito and Her Majesty Empress Masako of Japan at their residence in the Ikh Tenger Complex.

During the State Visit, President of Mongolia, H.E. Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, along with the First Lady Bolortsetseg Luvsandorj held an official meeting with His Majesty Emperor Naruhito and Her Majesty Empress Masako of Japan and discussed deepening bilateral friendly relations and enduring friendship between the peoples of the two countries. His Majesty Emperor Naruhito and Her Majesty Empress Masako attended the Opening Ceremony of the National Naadam Festival and other ceremonial events as Guests of Honor.

Within the framework of Mongolia’s “Third Neighbor” policy, the State Visit held historic significance in deepening the “people-centered” Special Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity with Japan—a partner with shared common values, and contributed to further expansion of friendly relations and cooperation, and strengthening the enduring bonds of friendship between the peoples of Mongolia and Japan.

His Majesty Emperor Naruhito of Japan ascended the Chrysanthemum Throne on May 1, 2019, marking the beginning of Japan’s Reiwa era. Since his enthronement, Emperor Naruhito has undertaken two previous State Visits: to the Republic of Indonesia in 2023 and to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in 2024. His Majesty the Emperor’s third State Visit has now been made to Mongolia.

His Majesty Emperor Naruhito of Japan paid an official visit to Mongolia, as the Crown Prince, in 2007 to mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Japan.

Their Majesties were seen off at Chinggis Khaan International Airport by Battsetseg Batmunkh, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, along with other government officials.
