Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene Receives U.S. Deputy Secretary of State

Ulaanbaatar, March 27, 2024. /MONTSAME/. On March 22, 2024, Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai received Deputy Secretary of State of the United States Kurt Michael Campbell, who visited Mongolia on March 21-22, 2024.


At the Meeting, the two parties reaffirmed commitments to solidifying the Strategic Third Neighbor Partnership relations between Mongolia and the United States, expanding relations and cooperation between the two countries in all sectors of mutual interest, and enriching them with economic cooperation. 


Moreover, the two sides also discussed the implementation of the decisions made during Mongolian Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene's official visit to the United States in August 2023, including launching direct flights between the two countries, enhancing English-language education in Mongolia, and fostering private-sector collaboration in space research.


Mongolian Premier highlighted that the United States is an important "third neighbor" and strategic partner of Mongolia and has consistently supported Mongolia since its democratic transition. On behalf of the Government and the people of Mongolia, Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene expressed heartfelt gratitude to the U.S. Government for providing a total of USD 900 thousand to herders affected by severe dzud.


The Deputy Secretary noted that the United States is proud to be an important third neighbor of Mongolia and expressed commitment to upgrading relations between the two countries based on shared democratic values that uphold human rights and freedom, expanding and strengthening cooperation in various fields, increasing the exchange of citizens, and deepening Mongolia-US friendship. 


Deputy Secretary Kurt Michael Campbell noted the United States' pride in being Mongolia's important third neighbor. Mr. Kurt Michael Campbell expressed commitment to strengthening relations between the two countries, built on shared democratic values that uphold human rights and freedom, expanding and strengthening cooperation in various fields, increasing citizen exchanges, and deepening the Mongolia-U.S. friendship.
