Mongolia Presents UNESCO Recognized Heritage

Ulaanbaatar, November 24, 2025 /MONTSAME/. On the occasion of the 863rd Anniversary of the Birth of Chinggis Khaan and National Pride Day on November 21, 2025, the Office of the Prime Minister of Mongolia, together with the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth, presented the Chinggis Khaan National Museum with UNESCO Certificates of Cultural Heritage.


Mongolia has successfully inscribed five significant historical and cultural assets across the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) key registers: the World Heritage List, the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and the International Memory of the World Programme. These include:


  • The Deer Stone Statue and Associated Bronze Age Sites, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, affirm their outstanding universal value and the need for global protection.  
  • The Nauryz Festival, recognized on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, was jointly proposed by Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Mongolia.
  • The Inscription of Khuis Tolgoi 1, included in the UNESCO Memory of the World International Register, was nominated by Mongolia’s National Council for Language Policies, Subordinate to the President of Mongolia.
  • A Complete Record of the Body by Imperial Order, inscribed on UNESCO’s Memory of the World International Register by the Mongolian Academy of Medical Sciences, is a rare medical manuscript that provides a comprehensive guide to human anatomy and serves as a bridge between Mongolian traditional medicine and European medical practice.
  • Mongol nomadic migration and its associated practices, inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, were proposed solely by Mongolia.

A formal handover ceremony was held at the Chinggis Khaan National Museum to mark the presentation of five UNESCO certificates of cultural heritage. The event was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Battsetseg Batmunkh, Minister of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth Undram Chinbat, senior officials from the Office of the Prime Minister, representatives of the nominating institutions, and members of the cultural and academic community.
