Ulaanbaatar, November 5, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Ministry of Defense of Mongolia and the Federal Ministry of Defense of Germany have entered into a long-term cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening bilateral defense relations and advancing a strategic partnership.

The agreement was formally signed by Damba Batlut, Minister of Defense of Mongolia, and Helmut Kulitz, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Mongolia.

As part of this agreement, the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany has committed EUR 1 million to support the enhancement of training capabilities and logistical infrastructure within the Mongolian Armed Forces. This latest contribution builds upon Germany’s longstanding support for Mongolia’s defense development.

A distinguished example of this partnership is Germany’s recent funding of a state-of-the-art climbing training facility for the Mongolian Mountain Infantry Battalion in Bayan-Ulgii aimag, valued at EUR 1.5 million. This initiative underscores Germany’s enduring commitment to strengthening Mongolia’s specialized military capabilities.

Since 2009, German military personnel have regularly conducted joint training programs in Mongolia, contributing to the professional development of Mongolian Armed Forces personnel across various disciplines. These efforts have notably supported Mongolia’s preparation for United Nations peacekeeping operations and enhanced its expertise in mountain warfare.

The defense partnership between Mongolia and the Federal Republic of Germany is founded on mutual trust and shared strategic interests, and has steadily evolved over the past 15 years. During the signing ceremony, both parties reaffirmed that defense cooperation remains a vital pillar of the broader strategic partnership.
