Democratic Party Proposes Setting State Great Khural Members’ Salaries at National Average Wage

Ulaanbaatar, November 4, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Head of the Democratic Party caucus in the State Great Khural, Tsogtgerel Odon, stated on November 3, 2025, that Members of Parliament should receive salaries equal to the national average wage.
The Democratic Party caucus holds regular sessions every Monday. At its latest meeting, members discussed remuneration and agreed on the proposal, as Tsogtgerel announced at a press briefing following the session.
As of today, the national average monthly salary in Mongolia stands at MNT 2.7 million. Tsogtgerel emphasized that, for instance, if healthcare workers earn an average of MNT 2.5 million per month, then the minister of that sector should receive a comparable salary to understand real working and living conditions.
He further noted that increasing salaries without a clear financial source would inevitably lead to higher taxes and price inflation, highlighting the need to address the issue comprehensively.
