Parliament Accepts Resignation of Speaker Amarbayasgalan

Ulaanbaatar, October 17, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The State Great Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia considered the resignation request submitted by its Chairman, Amarbayasgalan Dashzegve, during the plenary session held on October 17, 2025.
Speaker Amarbayasgalan formally presented his resignation request during the meeting of the Council held under the Speaker of the Parliament on October 16, 2025. That same day, the Standing Committee on State Structure convened to review the request. All 23 members in attendance endorsed the recommendation to accept the resignation, and the request was subsequently added to the plenary session agenda.
During the session, Speaker Amarbayasgalan stated: “To fully restore my dignity, protect parliamentary democracy, freedom, governance, and establish justice, I am submitting my request to be relieved of my duties as Speaker of the Parliament in accordance with Article 12, Clause 12.22.1 of the Law on the Mongolian State Great Khural.”
Following a round of questions and statements from members of Parliament, a vote was held. Of the 114 members present, 102 voted in favor of accepting the resignation.
Deputy Chair Bulgantuya Khurelbaatar will serve as Acting Chair until a new speaker is elected.
