Ulaanbaatar, September 11, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Embassy of Japan in Mongolia and ‘Nihon Shitsuke-no-Kai, Ethics Society of Japan’ have jointly inaugurated the ‘Mongolia-Japan Ethics and Discipline’ Calligraphy Exhibition, which opens at the ‘Chinggis Khaan’ National Museum, featuring works by prominent politicians, public figures, and calligraphy artists from the two countries.
At the opening ceremony, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia Igawahara Masaru stated that, in line with the Presidential Decree and the Law on the Mongolian Language, Government and local self-governing bodies are required, as of January 1, 2025, to conduct official documentation in both Cyrillic and traditional Mongolian scripts. He noted that the Government has approved and is implementing the ‘National Program for Mongolian Script III.’ He said that the exhibition is of particular significance, as it is being held shortly after the State Visit to Mongolia by Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan. According to Ambassador Igawahara, the event contributes to strengthening the ‘people-centered’ Special Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity between Mongolia and Japan by deepening mutual trust and expanding cultural ties.
Japan’s ‘Nihon Shitsuke-no-Kai, Ethics Society of Japan,’ which has organized calligraphy exhibitions across Asia since 2005, including in Beijing with local artists, seeks to promote the values of ‘shitsuke,’ or disciplined etiquette, through art and cultural exchange. In Mongolia, the first joint exhibition was held in 2018, and the present exhibition marks the second, now displayed in the ‘Silver Tree’ Hall of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum.
The exhibition is running from September 10 to 20, 2025.
