Ulaanbaatar, August 12, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Unveiling Ceremony of the updated stamp titled “Sukhbaatar District 60 Years” was held to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the founding of Sukhbaatar District on August 11, 2025.

Historically, by Decree No. 79 dated April 14, 1965, of the Presidium of the People's Great Khural of the Mongolian People’s Republic, administrative reforms in Ulaanbaatar abolished the old 10 khoroos and established four raions: Sukhbaatar, Oktyabr, Ajilchin, and Nairamdal. Later, by Resolution No. 18 dated August 18, 1992, of the State Great Khural of Mongolia, Sukhbaatar Raion was divided into two districts: Sukhbaatar and Chingeltei.

In celebration of the historic 60th anniversary, the Sukhbaatar District of the Capital city and Mongol Post JSC jointly issued the “Sukhbaatar District 60 Years” stamp for postal circulation.

At the opening of the display, Telmen Gerelt, CEO of Mongol Post JSC, stated, “A stamp is not only a validated token for postal payment but also a tangible documentary heritage that marks significant events, people, rare finds, and the living nature of the era. Over 101 years, Mongol Post has issued over 5,000 stamps across 1,190 themes. This new stamp for the 60th anniversary of Sukhbaatar District marks the 1,191st theme. Previously, on February 2, 1973, we issued a set of five stamps dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of the Founder of the People's Government, Leader of the People's Revolution, Minister of Defense, and Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Sukhbaatar Damdin. Among them, the stamp featuring the work "State Seal Reception Ceremony" by Honored Worker of Art and People’s Painter of Mongolia Sengetsokhio Adya has been updated and reissued under the theme Sukhbaatar District 60 Years.”

The history of Mongolian stamps features portraits and monuments of Commander-in-Chief of the Army Sukhbaatar Damdin, first appearing in 1941 under the theme “New Mongolia.” To date, Sukhbaatar Damdin has been featured on about 30 stamps.

The revised “Sukhbaatar District 60 Years” stamp measures 30 by 40 millimeters, with a total print run of 16,020 copies. Additionally, the first-day cover was priced at MNT 12,000.
