Mongolian Junior Judokas Win Nine Medals at the European Cup Series

Ulaanbaatar, February 20, 2025 /MONTSAME/. A team of Mongolian junior judokas, led by Hero of Labor and Honored Athlete of Mongolia Tsagaanbaatar Khashbaatar, Olympic and World Championship bronze medalist G. Otgontsetseg, and International Master of Sports D. Altansukh, claimed nine medals at the Samorin Cadet European Cup 2025 and Genoa Cadet European Cup 2025.


The team secured three gold and two bronze medals at the tournament in Genoa, Italy, and an additional two gold and two bronze at the event in Samorin, Slovakia.


In the girls' 52 kg category, B. Gundegmaa won gold, while in the 63 kg category, Kh. Maralmaa also took gold. In the boys' 55 kg category, P. Altantsooj earned bronze, along with M. Tsendbazar in the girls' 57 kg category. Additionally, four other athletes placed in the top rankings.


B. Gundegmaa dominated Pool B, receiving a bye (advancing to the next round without playing an opponent) in the first round before defeating opponents from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, and Poland to claim gold. Meanwhile, Kh. Maralmaa led her weight class, earning a bye in Pool A before overcoming judokas from Israel, the Czech Republic, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Serbia, ultimately securing the gold medal.


This tournament was essential for the Mongolian junior judokas, as it awarded ranking points for World Championship qualification.
