Female athletes qualify for Summer Olympics

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Four of the five female athletes who competed in the 2021 Asian Wrestling Olympic Qualification Tournament have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics.


More specifically, IM Ts.Namuuntsetseg, IM B.Bolortuya, IM B.Khongorzul, and State Honored Athlete O.Burmaa qualified for the Summer Olympics at the tournament that took place in Almaty, Kazakhstan.


Despite being defeated by Aiperi Medet Kyzy of Kyrgyzstan in her first match, the 39-year-old athlete O.Burmaa came out victorious over Pooja of India, and Jeong Seo-Yeon of South Korea with 3:1 and 6:3 consecutively. In the qualification match, she defeated Ellieva Shakhribonu of Uzbekistan.


In the tournament, the female wrestling team won two gold (B.Bolortuya, B.Khongorzul), two silver (Ts.Namuuntsetseg, O.Burmaa), and one bronze (S.Tserenchimed) medals.
