A new diagnostic kit that detects antibodies against COVID-19 in saliva samples which was developed by Mongolian scientists is being introduced into practice starting from today. During his opening remarks, Director of MNUMS N.Khurelbaatar said, “Our university is carrying out six types of research on COVID-19. The Center for Clinical Molecular Diagnostics has been established at the university with a budget of MNT 288 million. It is a biosafety level 2 laboratory that diagnoses all viral diseases at the molecular level, and furthermore, it is the first laboratory for this use in Mongolia in terms of standard requirements.” “With a funding of MNT 47 million provided by the Ministry of Education and Science, we were able to develop a test kit that has shown accuracy rate of 100 percent from saliva sample. Moreover, the State Emergency Commission provided MNT 109 million for the manufacturing. After passing five phases of criteria, it was officially approved by the Ministry of Health yesterday” he adds.
