Finance Minister meets Ambassador of Japan

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Finance B.Javkhlan had a
meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia Hiroyuki
Kobayashi on March 9. Ambassador Kobayashi congratulated Minister B.Javkhlan on
his appointment as the Finance Minister. They discussed COVID-19 response
measures, economic cooperaiton, and the progress and outcomes of projects being implemented
with Japanese official development assistance, and investment.
Minister B.Javkhlan thanked the Government of Japan for its
valuable contributions to coping with economic challenges and stabilizing the
economy and underlined that bilateral relations and cooperation have
been strengthened, undertaking to further cooperate closely. The Minister also
expressed gratitude for the timely COVID-19 Crisis Response Emergency Support
Loan, grant aid for economic and social development, and technical assistance from
the Japanese Government for the measures to overcome social and economic issues
caused by COVID-19 pandemic and mitigate the pandemic’s negative impact,
stabilize the economy, and protect public health.
Voicing hope that Mongolia, as an important partner with
shared values of freedom, democracy and rule of law, will further deepen
friendly bilateral relations and cooperation and keep making contributions to
regional and global peace and stability, Ambassador Kobayashi Hiroyuki pledged
that Japan will continue its development assistance to Mongolia. The Ambassador emphasized
that the Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi’s visit paid to Mongolia is of significance
in the provision of JPY 25 billion emergency budget support loan for COVID-19
measures and that the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Mongolia-Japan
diplomatic relations, which falls next year, is an important milestone in
bilateral cooperation.
