D.Bayasgalan re-elected as treasurer of FISU

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A president of the Mongolian University Sports Federation (MUSF) Mr Bayasgalan Danzandorj was re-elected the FISU (International University Sports Federation) Treasurer for the third time. 

It happened during the second day of the 34th General Assembly in Lausanne on November 8, when the FISU Membership elected a new Executive Board to lead the organization for the next four years, in the 2015-2019 period.

Former 1st vice-president Oleg Matytsin (Russia) was elected as the FISU president for the above period by with 102 votes vs. 23 for incumbent president Claude-Louis Gallien.

The 34th General Assembly also heard reports from the FISU president, Treasurer and Secretary-General on works done in 2013-2015 and other reports on measures, organization of Universiades and preparations for Summer and Winter Universiades to be held in 2017 and 2019. It also approved programme of works, planning and budget.

With representatives of 125 countries out of 167 members of the FISU, the General Assembly was joined by Afghanistan, Gambia and Aruba as new members.

Mongolian athletes have been participating in Universiade Games since 1965, grabbing 50 medals. Competing in ten events, Mongolians have won 21 gold, 13 silver and 39 bronze medals in World university championships.
