National Forestry Forum taking place
It was noted on November 9 at one of the thematic meetings of the National Forestry Forum that the annual average temperature in Mongolia has increased to 2.4 degrees Celsius and that there has been a 20 percent rise in winter precipitation and a 7 percent drop in summer precipitation.

COP26: Over 100 countries pledge USD 19 billion investment for reforestation
President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh attended the World Leaders Summit event on ‘Action on forests and land use’ on November 2. State heads of over 20 countries attended the event to discuss policies to keep global warming at 1.5°C, updated climate commitments as well as partnership and cooperation.

Mongolian herders have won an award from an international congress on pasture management. More specifically, during the Joint International Grassland (IGC) & International Rangeland (IRC) Congress that took place in Nairobi, Kenya, Head of the ‘Bichigt Khad’ pasture user group based in Davst, Uvs aimag B.Bayan-Ochir and Head of the ‘Aduun Chuluun’ pasture user group based in Lun, Tuv aimag J.Solongo have received the Award for Best Pastoralist Community.

‘Taishir-Altai’ water treatment plant begins operations for treatment of surface water

Participatory environmental monitoring teams operating in provinces
In the framework of the UNDP/SEPA Environmental Governance Programme (EGP), a joint team of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry, General Agency for Specialized Inspection, National Human Rights Commission, General Police Agency, UNDP and Steps Without Border NGO worked in Airag and Dalanjargalan soums of Dornogovi aimag and Bayanjargalan soum of Tuv aimag, where a model of participatory environmental monitoring in mining operations have been piloted under the EGP.
