UNFAO implements early action emergency project for herders
 Based on the Dzud risk map issued on 2nd of January by the Mongolia National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring (NAMEM) the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Mongolia (UNFAO) implemented “Early Action to protect the key livestock-related assets of vulnerable herder households in areas at very high dzud risk” SFER/GLO/005/MUL BABY09 project.

World Bank Group announces up to USD12 billion support for COVID-19 country response
As COVID-19 reaches more than 60 countries, the World Bank Group is making available an initial package of up to $12 billion in immediate support to assist countries coping with the health and economic impacts of the global outbreak. Gold purchase increases 10-fold
 As of first two months of 2020, the Bank of Mongolia purchased total of 4.3 tons of gold, of which 952 kg of gold was purchased in February. The figure represents the increase of 856 kg compared with February, 2019 which was 96 kg.

Oyu Tolgoi to Proceed to International Arbitration on Tax Dispute
On February 20, Turquoise Hill Resources announced that Oyu Tolgoi LLC (Oyu Tolgoi) has been unable to reach a resolution of its previously-announced dispute with the Mongolian Tax Authority (MTA) with respect to the MTA’s tax assessment, and will be proceeding with the initiation of a formal international arbitration proceeding in accordance with the dispute resolution provisions within Chapter 14 of the Oyu Tolgoi Investment Agreement (Investment Agreement) entered into with the Government of Mongolia in 2009 and Chapter 8 of the Oyu Tolgoi Underground Mine Development and Financing Plan entered into with the Government of Mongolia in 2015.
