Ministry of Environment, UN to Advance Public-Private Partnership

/MONTSAME/. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC), together
with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aims to accelerate the update
of the national strategy for biodiversity and to adopt joint preparation plans
for the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN Convention to Combat
Desertification (UNCCD).
This was discussed during the meeting
where the State Secretary of the MECC, Batbayar Shurenchuluun, welcomed UN
Resident Coordinator Jaap van Hierden, Head of the UN Resident Coordinator
Office Ariunaa Chadraabal, Deputy Resident Representative of the UNDP Lin Cao, Project
Specialist at the UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia Shahidul Islam, Chief of
Mission ad interim for the International Organization for Migration (IOM)
Mongolia Daniel Sam, UN Resident Coordinator in Bhutan Gaurav Ray, and FAO
Representative in Mongolia Qingyun Diao.
During the meeting, the parties
noted the importance of advancing joint endeavors, ensuring cohesion between
projects, and eliminating overlaps and disparities in 2026. The sides agreed to
expand cooperation in promoting project benefits to the public and improving
public-private partnerships through innovative and tangible methods.
The Ministry currently implements 30 joint projects with development partners: seven in climate change, five in biodiversity, two in forestry, and two that aim to improve chemical management.
