Marathoner Munkhzaya Qualifies for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

Ulaanbaatar, March 19, 2024. /MONTSAME/. On March 17, 2024, the Seoul International Marathon – 2024 took place in Seoul, South Korea, with 40 thousand athletes from 79 countries testing their speed in the marathon. 


The race began at Gwanghwamun Square and ended at Jamsil Sports Complex, covering a distance of 42.195 km in the center of Seoul city. 


International Master of Sports of Mongolia Munkhzaya Bayartsogt, a Twenty-Time National Marathon Champion of Mongolia and Six-Time Champion of the Ulaanbaatar Marathon, qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. She secured her qualification by achieving seventh place at the Seoul Marathon.


Specifically, B. Munkhzaya competed in the category of women’s 42.195 km distance, clocking in at 2:24:45. Munkhzaya Bayartsogt successfully participated in the Seoul International Marathon – 2024, cracking the top ten and becoming the only Asian athlete in that elite group. Competing in the 2024 Seoul International Marathon, Munkhzaya Bayartsogt shattered her national marathon record once again. This remarkable accomplishment is a result of her focused training in the Republic of Korea under her coach B. Dorjpalam.


Two Mongolian female marathon athletes have qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The qualifying times for the marathon are:

-Women: 2 hours, 29 minutes, and 30 seconds (2:29:30)

-Men: 2 hours, 11 minutes, and 30 seconds (2:11:30)
