Ulaanbaatar, September 17, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The staff of ‘Thermal Power Plant No. 4’ JSC have joined the national campaign ‘Let’s Donate Blood,’ contributing to saving the lives of 240 people.

The National Center for Transfusion Medicine of Mongolia (NCTMM) produces over 30 types of blood products from donated blood to supply hospitals nationwide. With the shortage of blood donors and limited reserves, more than 100 company employees participated in the campaign, jointly organized by the National Center for Transfusion Medicine and the Mongolian Red Cross Society of Bayangol District.

Mongolia adopted the Law on Blood Donation in 2000, becoming the 30th country in the world to enact such legislation. The law was amended in 2012 and revised in 2017. According to the law, citizens who donate blood 35 times or more are awarded the honorary title ‘Distinguished Donor.’ Holders of this title are entitled to one free annual stay in a state-accredited sanatorium and receive medical check-ups at the State Second and Third Central Hospitals without charge or waiting in line.

Individuals who donate blood 70–100 times are honoured as Bronze Donors, those who donate 150 times as Silver Donors, and those who exceed 150 donations as Gold Donors. Today, Mongolia has around 100,000 registered blood donors, more than 1,000 of whom have been awarded the title of “Distinguished Donor.” The country’s most dedicated donor has given blood on 220 occasions. However, individuals diagnosed with hepatitis B or C, as well as those with chronic illnesses, are ineligible to donate.
