Chairman Zandanshatar Receives Chinese Ambassador to Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar, October 16, 2023 /MONTSAME/. The Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Zandanshatar Gombojav received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China (PRC) to Mongolia Shen Minjuan on October 13, 2023. 


Newly appointed Ambassador Shen Minjuan expressed her satisfaction that relations and cooperation between Mongolia and the People's Republic of China are at the most friendly moment in history and that she is being appointed as the 18th Chinese Ambassador to Mongolia during this auspicious time. 


The Regular Meeting Mechanism between the State Great Khural of Mongolia and the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2024. The Ambassador expressed her willingness to host the next meeting of the Regular Meeting Mechanism in 2024 to coincide with its 10th anniversary. The two Heads of State set a goal of attaining a USD 20 billion trade turnover between Mongolia and China. As of August 2023, trade turnover had reached USD 15 billion. Recognizing the full potential to achieve the goal, the Ambassador stressed the high significance of the Permanent Cooperation Mechanism of legislative bodies of the two countries to create new cooperation opportunities in all fields, including agriculture and farming, in addition to mining. 


The Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia G. Zandanshatar congratulated Ambassador Shen Minjuan on officially assuming the office. Chairman Zandanshatar emphasized the importance of the relations between the legislative bodies of Mongolia and the PRC in creating a favorable legal environment for trade and economic cooperation, an important component of the Mongolia-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The Chairman expressed confidence that the Ambassador would actively work to develop the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership relations through supporting relations and cooperation between the legislative bodies. He expressed his readiness to cooperate in intensifying activities of the Regular Meeting Mechanism between the State Great Khural of Mongolia and the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China and regularizing the frequency of the exchanging experience between friendship groups in the parliaments, standing committees, and parliamentary offices of the two countries. 


Noting the decisions made during the First Meeting of the Joint Commission on Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation between Mongolia and the Russian Federation last month, the Chairman of the State Great Khural highlighted the effectiveness of the Regular Meeting Mechanism in expanding Mongolia's foreign trade and improving the legal environment. 


The Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of the Regular Meeting Mechanism between the State Great Khural of Mongolia and the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China was signed in Beijing in 2014. Since then, four meetings were held.
