Consultation held for 36th Session of the FAO Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ To successfully participate in the 36th Session of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization’s Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific to be held in hybrid mode in March 2022, a country consultation was held for the first time in Ulaanbaatar city. The meeting was attended by State Secretary of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry T.Jambaltseren, Resident Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Mongolia Vinod Ahuja, and other officials.


The long-term development policy document of Mongolia, Vision 2050, includes an objective to create an inclusive, competitive, and resilient agricultural system. The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry is working towards certain objectives as part of livestock and crop farming policies to fulfill Mongolia’s nationally determined contributions and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions under the Paris Agreement. The Ministry is also giving increased focus to developing e-agriculture.


The country consultation is aimed at giving information about the 36th session and receiving proposals for discussion at the session’s ministerial and roundtable meetings, said State Secretary T.Jambaltseren in his opening remarks.


The 36th session of the Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific will be a forum to discuss current country and regional priorities and pressing issues in the region such as the impact of COVID-19, the state of agriculture, natural resources management, food security and nutrition. It is also an opportunity to highlight examples of partnerships, innovation and digital technologies that are helping to improve food security and nutrition across the region as well as regional and global policy and regulatory matters.
