Prime Minister visits health facility and pharmaceutical company

Soon after Mongolia enacted the heightened state of alert due to COVID-19 pandemic in February 2020, Prime Minister of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh has visited the State Central Military Hospital, State First Central Hospital and National Center of Communicable Diseases, giving an order to the healthcare industry to ensure preparedness in case of sudden surge of COVID-19 cases up to 1,000 in the country. 


On April 23, Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh worked at the Munkhiin Tun pharmaceutical factory and the State Second Central Hospital to check their preparation for response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The hospital No.2 has prepared 280 international standard beds to use during emergency situations and is maintaining its preparation to deliver emergency healthcare services, and capacity building for medical isolation, virus detection and intensive care taking. Moreover, additional 500 beds are available at the hospital should it be necessary. 


The National Diagnosis and Treatment Center with a laboratory equipped with the latest technologies has opened at the hospital and is ready to provide medical and diagnostic services. The laboratory is also able to perform COVID-19 test as approved by the World Health Organization and 180 other types of diagnostic tests. 


Afterwards, the Prime Minister visited the Munkhiin Tun pharmaceutical company and became acquainted with the operations of its factory, which is working extended hours at its full capacity with daily manufacturing output of 10,000 pieces of protective gear and 160,000 single-use face masks. The company has enough raw materials supply that is enough for 2-3 months. 


During his visit to the State Second Central Hospital and Munkhiin Tun company, Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh praised their efforts to fulfill social responsibilities amid the COVID-19 pandemic and thanked for their hard work to deliver essential healthcare services and produce vital personal protective equipment.
