Mongolia-Turkey tourism cooperation to be advanced to a new level

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Within the framework of his visit paid to the Republic of Turkey on December 5-9, Minister of Environment and Tourism N.Tserenbat met with Mehmet Ersoy, Turkey’s Minister of Culture and Tourism.
Underlining that relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Turkey have been expanding year to year with mutual visa free travel of the citizens and direct flights, which will be started from 2020, Minister N.Tserenbat said that conditions are being created to broaden cooperation in tourism industry, increase the number of tourists and strengthen friendly ties between the two countries through the citizens.
At the meeting, the sides agreed to establish memorandum of cooperation between the two Ministries on intensification of cooperation, to set up Tourism Information and Promotion Center of Mongolia in Turkey as well as to open Turkish Cultural Institute in Ulaanbaatar city and Mongolian Cultural Center in Istanbul.
Minister N.Tserenbat invited Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Mehmet Nuri to visit Mongolia in 2020 and made proposals on making investment in creating natural complex in Orkhon Valley, making it a national tourism park and transforming Kharkhorin airport into international airport. Furthermore, the Minister requested to regularly organize consultative meeting of tourism industry of the two countries and jointly conduct ‘Steppe’ exhibition in Turkey next year.
Mr. Mehmet Ersoy said “I hope that direct flight to be performed by ‘Turkish Airlines’ company would bring biggest development in tourism sector of Mongolia. Because the company operates flights to 318 cities. It can be understood that passenger’s flow from European countries and other countries to Mongolia will be opened aside from passenger’s flow from Turkey to Mongolia. Moreover, World Nomads Games will be hosted in Turkey in 2020. I wish Mongolian delegates to attend the festival in broader constitution. The side of Turkey will provide all round support to host the next Games in Mongolia.
In addition, the sides came to a decision to cooperate in mutually increasing promotion of tourism sector of the two countries in the future.
