“Coal Mongolia” coal trade and investment event held for the ninth year
VideoMongolia’s biggest coal trade and investment
conference and exhibition “Coal Mongolia-2019” is being organized for the 9th
year on September 5-6 at Shangri-La Hotel in Ulaanbaatar under the motto “Lead
the market”. The Mongolian Coal Association worked as a main organizer of the
conference, co-organized by the China Coal Transportation and Distribution
Association.
Being successfully organized since 2011, the
annual international coal trade, investment conference and exhibition is aimed
to attract investment in the Mongolian coal industry, introduce new
technologies, improve coal export, trade, transportation and logistics as well
as to strengthen competitiveness of the Mongolian coal industry in the Asian
market. The organizers of the event highlighted that the significance and
weight of the event have been continuously growing over the years.
Government and private representatives,
business organizations and global researchers gather for the event to exchange
reliable information and hear opinions of coal market and price forecast, enjoy
business networking opportunities with leaders of the industry, get informed
about industry policy, get introduced with new investment projects, enhance
company sales, acquire information about advanced technology price and their
productivity and have business expansion opportunity at lower cost and in short
time.
The Coal Mongolia-2019 conference
participants also touched on issues regarding coal demands and supplies of
China, the biggest consumer of coal from Mongolia and market changes and
expansion of main competitors on coking coal supply, Russia, Australia,
Indonesia and India. Sessions of this year’s forum also highlighted the
regional development and partnership in the coal industry. In particular, it is
noteworthy that delegates from business associations in Mongolia’s Umnugobi
aimag and Bayannur city of Inner Mongolia, China took part in the Coal
Mongolia-2019 to discuss about regional partnership.
The first day of the event was organized as
Mongolia-China coal industry business forum, discussing about the current
situation and forecast of the Mongolia’s coal industry. Kh.Kherlen, Head of
Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority and G.Battsengel, CEO of the Energy
Resources LLC delivered a presentation on the Mongolia’s coal industry
situations and target markets of Mongolia’s coking coal. A speech by Kelvin
Andrew Kaukinen, Executive Director, Wagner Asia Equipment LLC on the topic
“How much is a day worth?’ also attracted the attention of the guests at the event.
The second session of the first day was about
Market Analysis where the participants attempted to make an analysis on the
Chinese energy and coking coal markets and forecast for 2019-2020. In addition,
the latest information on the coking coal trade and steel market was presented
and Weng Yile, Associate Editor of the S&P Global Platts on the topic
Metallurgical Coal Market Updates and Trends. Representative from the event’s
co-organizer China Coal Transportation and Distribution Association spoke about
the Coke Purchasing Situation and 2020 Market Prospect of Steel Plant. The
event continued to its second day, on September 6, under the theme of issues
for coal mining, processing, transportation and logistics.
In terms of the coal exports of Mongolia, the
total exports of coal from Mongolia to China for this year was planned at 42
million of tons. As of the first seven months of this year, 20 million tons of
coal was sold to the southern neighbor, exceeding the plan. Compared to the
same period of last year, the exports increased by 0.42 percent.
