On May 21-22, Prime Minister Erdenebat Jargaltulga worked in the croplands of central provinces Tuv, Darkhan-Uul, Selenge, Bulgan and Orkhon, and met with farmers, looking over the progress of spring sowing.
This year, Mongolia plans to cultivate 458 thousand hectares land.
Speaking to journalists as he wrapped his trip, the Prime Minister said “There are risks of desertification if farmers don’t apply soil conservation techniques. Soil conservation is a priority for every farmer. Mongolian farmers agree on remediating their lands based on a soil test analysis”.
He continued “Crop production sector will feed us for many years. In order to transmit fertile soil to our next generations, we need to address soil conservation from today. The Cabinet will work towards this”.
