President of Mongolia participates in ‘National Tree Planting Day’ event

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. U. Khurelsukh, the President of Mongolia, participated ‘National Tree Planting Day’ event organized at the National Cultural Park.

 

In his opening speech, President U.Khurelsukh conveyed gratitude to the public and private sectors and the people for their active collaboration since the launch of the One Billion Trees national movement.

 

He continued highlighting that since the national movement began, arboretum and tree nurseries have stocked 37 million seedlings and saplings across the country, four times more than the previous year.

 

He also noted that it is essential to pay attention to management, organization, and financing to increase the resources of seedlings and saplings, to improve the technical and human resource capabilities of enterprises, and to convey good practices, best technologies, and innovations.


 

During the event, the students of the ‘Erdmiin Urgoo’ complex school in the Bayangol District of the Capital City got involved in the systematic training of growing seedlings of woody plants in the bucket.



At the initiative of the Office of the President of Mongolia, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, the United Nations in Mongolia, and the United Nations Association of Mongolia jointly organized the ‘UN Youth Delegate - Environmental leadership’ program. He presented to the two best participants of this program the right to attend Mongolian youth at international UN conferences in Egypt and Canada.

 

The President of Mongolia also met with representatives of forestry and horticulture professional organizations, fertilizer manufacturers, and representatives of timber industry machinery and equipment trade fairs.


Ts.Byambasuren, a head of the Union of Professional Organizations of Forestry and Horticulture of Mongolia, introduced an online exchange website on www.modlog.mn for organizations, businesses, and citizens to sell and buy seedlings.

 

The Office of the President of Mongolia, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, the International Cultural Park, the Union of Professional Organizations of Forestry and Horticulture of Mongolia, the ‘Environmental Information and Training Center’ NGO, and the ‘Ecological Education Center’ of the National University of Mongolia jointly organized this event.
