Ulaanbaatar, November 13, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Ulaanbaatar City Governor’s Office, UNICEF, and the Mongolian Intellectual Academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding on November 12, 2025, to implement the program “Preventing Digital Addiction and Supporting Students’ Intellectual Development.”

The MoU aims to strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation between the parties, enhance children’s learning abilities, and explore opportunities to expand successful practices.

The memorandum will be implemented in accordance with the principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which Mongolia ratified on January 26, 1990.

Deputy Governor for Social Development, Green Growth, and Air and Environmental Pollution Affairs, Amartuvshin Amgalanbayar, stated, “To develop global citizens, the three organizations have signed this memorandum of cooperation. UNICEF has proposed 10 pilot schools for the project, to be implemented from December 1 this year to June 1 next year. If UNICEF concludes that the project is effective, it will be expanded to all 178 schools in the capital.”

Under the Memorandum, the parties will pilot an “Intellectual Sports Program” in 10 selected schools in Ulaanbaatar. The program will include training sessions to teach students basic intellectual sports techniques and skills, provide necessary materials and equipment such as stacking cups, mats, timers, screens, and manuals, train and certify three teachers and coaches from each school, and organize an “Intellectual Sports Championship” among the participating schools in May 2026.

Throughout the program, a study and assessment will be conducted to evaluate students’ concentration, behavioral changes, and digital use habits. The implementation will be regularly reviewed, and effective practices will be shared across city schools.
