Ulaanbaatar, November 10, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The number of tourists arriving in Mongolia from neighboring countries has increased by 80 percent compared to the pre-pandemic period.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth, this growth reflects the tangible outcomes of the Mongolia-China-Russia Tourism Ministerial Meeting, which has been held regularly since 2016 as part of trilateral cooperation.
The ninth meeting of the tourism ministers of Mongolia, China, and Russia took place in Darkhan City, Darkhan-Uul aimag, alongside the “Tea Road and Economic Corridor” trilateral meeting. Minister Undram Chinbat emphasized that the event marks an important step toward elevating cooperation to a new level. During the discussions, the parties agreed to extend the “Program for Establishing the Mongolia-Russia-China Economic Corridor” until 2031 and to strengthen collaboration in trade, economy, infrastructure, environment, and tourism.
This year’s meeting also highlighted the historical tourism significance of
the “Tea Road,” which
has connected the commerce, culture, and civilizations of the three nations for
over 700 years. Within
the framework of promoting “Tea Road” tourism cooperation, the sides proposed
to jointly develop a branded
cross-border road trip program in partnership with public and
private entities from the neighboring countries.
