Ulaanbaatar, September 18, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Baganuur Battery Storage Power Station has supplied a total of 48.7 million kilowatt-hours of electricity to the central region’s unified power system to date.

The 50-megawatt battery storage power station has been established in the territory of the 1st khoroo of Baganuur District, based on the “Baganuur” electricity distribution substation, and began supplying electricity to the central grid on December 5, 2024.

The power station stores surplus electricity generated during low nighttime demand and releases it during peak daytime load periods. Daily electricity fluctuations of 300–400 MW between peak and off-peak periods are thus efficiently balanced. Unlike solar or wind power, the battery storage plant ensures a continuous electricity supply independent of weather conditions. At an average household consumption of 2 kWh, the plant’s 50 MW capacity can fully supply electricity for 25,000 households for four hours.

Notably, the Baganuur Battery Storage Power Station was constructed and commissioned in just 75 days.
