Consultative Meeting of Member Countries of the Organization for Cooperation of Railways Ongoing

Ulaanbaatar, 2024 February 27 /MONTSAME/ Online consultative meeting of the member countries of the Organization for Cooperation of Railways started on February 26, 2024. As a member, the management staff of "Ulaanbaatar Railway" Joint Venture Company of Mongolia participated in the meeting.

 

During the online meeting, the participants discussed the freight volume for 2024 and consulted on the development of its implementation measures. Specifically, the volume of export, import, and transit freight is being discussed in each type of freight, and the relevant railway organizations will reach a mutual agreement and include it in the protocol to ensure its implementation. 

 

Representatives from Mongolia, Afghanistan, Belarus, Vietnam, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, the People's Republic of Korea, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Korea and Uzbekistan are participating in the meeting. The online meeting will continue until March 1, 2024.

 

Rail freight transport of Mongolia increased as follows:

- Export freight by 2.5 million tons

- Transit freight by 1.9 million

- Domestic freight increased by 491.9 thousand tons.

 

The revenue of railway transport in 2023 reached MNT 1.1 trillion, an increase of MNT 376.7 billion in comparison with the previous year. Out of it, the railway freight transport grew to 32.4 million tons, which is an increase of 4.6 million tons compared to the previous year.
