Ukrainians in Mongolia NGO established

The official opening of the non-governmental organization, ‘Ukrainians in Mongolia’, took place in Ulaanbaatar on November 16. Officially having registered on October 30, 2019, the organization is to run their operations in the legal framework of Mongolia. Honorary Consul from Ukraine to Mongolia T.Munkhbat, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice and Internal Affairs, and the Governor’s Office of the Capital City, Consul of the Embassy of Ukraine to the People’s Republic of China Lilia Samoilova, citizens of Ukraine living in Ulaanbaatar, and board members of the Mongolia-Ukraine Friendship Society attended the ceremony.


Chairman of the council of ‘Ukrainians in Mongolia’ NGO Anastasia Jukova expressed her gratitude to the side of Mongolia for giving support in establishing the organization.


Consul of the Embassy of Ukraine to PRC Lilia Samoilova said, “The Agreement on Mutual Exemption from Visa Requirements between Mongolia and Ukraine was signed on November 8, 2019. With the agreement established, citizens of Mongolia and Ukraine are exempt from visa for stays up to 90 days over the duration of 180 days. This important event is bound to result in active business relations and tourism alongside creating a favorable environment to develop partnership between the two countries in the political, cultural, and humanitarian sectors.”


The ‘Ukrainians in Mongolia’ NGO aims to strengthen the friendly relations between Ukraine and Mongolia, accelerate business relations, and promote the traditional heritage of Ukraine to Mongolians.


Despite the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1992, the historic relations of the two countries date many years back. Today, the number of Mongolian students that studied in Ukraine has reached 7,000. Graduates of the universities of Kiev, Dnipro, Kharkov, Odessa, and Kirovograd are currently working at the Government of Mongolia, banks, mining corporations as well as various fields, such as science, technology, education, culture and arts.


“There are about 200 Ukrainians living in Mongolia, and the number of Ukrainian tourists that came to Mongolia reached 1,650 last year. As of now, about 60 citizens of Ukraine have been registered at our organization. Thus, the organization’s aims are to unite the Ukrainians that live in the territory of Mongolia, strengthen connections with the Embassy of Ukraine, promote the traditions and culture of Ukraine, and provide information to citizens of Ukraine and Mongolia,” noted Ms.Anastasia Jukova.
