Ulaanbaatar, May 1, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The “75 Years of Diplomatic Relations Between Mongolia and Hungary” Photo Exhibition opened at the “Silver Tree” Hall of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum in Ulaanbaatar City on April 30, 2025.

In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Photo Exhibition features photographs depicting key moments and events in the long-standing historical ties between Mongolia and Hungary. Mongolia and Hungary established diplomatic relations on April 28, 1950, and the Embassy of Mongolia in Budapest opened in 1957.

The Exhibition also recounts the story of the French Goldsmith Wilhelmus Boucher, who was captured in the city of Fehérvár during the Mongol Invasion of the Kingdom of Hungary in 1241–1242 and brought to Kharkhorin, the Capital City of the Great Mongol Empire. Therefore, Wilhelmus Boucher applied the craftsmanship he had acquired in Hungary and France to create the “Silver Tree” in Mongolia. Additionally, Deputy Director-General of the Ethnographic Museum Dr. Veres Gábor presented to the Director of Chinggis Khaan National Museum and Academician Chuluun Sampildondov, the Honorary Member Certificate and accompanying documents issued by the Hungarian Ethnographic Society.

The Opening Ceremony of the Exhibition saw the attendance of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Mongolia Borbála Anna Obrusánszky, Member of the State Great Khural and Head of the Mongolia-Hungary Parliamentary Group Batsumberel Natsagdorj, as well as other distinguished guests and representatives.

The Exhibition, which is jointly organized by the Embassy of Hungary in Mongolia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, and the National Archives of Hungary, will remain open to the public for one week.
