Mongolia to host the first International Youth Green Games in 2020

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolia will host the International Youth Green Games from September 13-20 in Ulaanbaatar city under the auspices of the President of Mongolia. The main purpose of the games is to introduce through sports the United Nations ‘Sustainable Development Goals’ to the young people who will lead the future in support of their participation.


To host the games, Mongolia has planned to build and reconstruct some buildings and complexes  such as the Technical Sports Center, Steppe Arena, Water Sports Centre, Sports Complex in Yarmag, Buyant Ukhaa Sports Palace and the Choijin Lama Temple Museum.


The games is expected to welcome over 4000 athletes from 195 UN member countries. Athletes will be aged up to 18.


The sports programme is composed of archery, athletics, basketball 5×5 and 3×3, chess, climbing, cricket, e-sports, fencing, football, jujitsu, judo, kurash, sambo, shooting, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball and wrestling. There will be other categories incorporated into the sports programme: Paralympic – athletics and basketball; Special Olympics – chess and fencing; Deaflympics – judo and volleyball.
