Two wrestlers win gold medals from Veterans World Championships

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The 2019 Veterans World Wrestling Championships took place in Tbilisi, Georgia between October 8 and 13. On the last day of the championship, the national team of athletes representing Mongolia won 2 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medals.
Master of Sports N.Baatar and Vice President of the Mongolian Wrestling Federation, State Elephant, Master of Sports D.Bumbayar won gold medals in the 70kg weight class in Group C and the 130kg weight class in Group D respectively, becoming the 7th and 8th Mongolian athletes to become a champion at the Veterans World Wrestling Championships.

While N.Baatar had won a bronze medal from the veterans championship in 2016, it was the first time for D.Bumbayar to step onto the mat at the world championship, and come out victorious over athletes of Germany, the U.S., and Kazakhstan.
In Group C, IM Sh.Bayanmunkh, who won the most medals from the Veterans World Championships among Mongolian athletes (3 silver and 7 bronze medals), and IM G.Baasansuren have also won silver and bronze medals in the 130kg and 62kg weight class respectively.
On the first day of the championship, from the six athletes that competed on the first day, four athletes won bronze medals in the Groups B (ages 41-45) and E (ages 56-60). More specifically, IM B.Bat, Master of Sports J.Khurts, Master of Sports B.Bayansan, and IM D.Ganbat won bronze medals from the 88kg weight class in Group E, and the 62kg, 78kg, and 88kg weight classes in Group B.
